Megameeting call (joined by: Sharon, David, Giannos, Panos, René)

The order of the topics covered in the training is: (1) Storage (2) Services (3) Cost issues (4) Business cases. (Day 1: Storage + Services. Day 2: Cost issues + Business cases)

Each topic starts with a general introduction, followed by more in-depth coverage (use-case / examples/ etc.). Ideally each topic has two speakers, one for each part of the block.

The last part of the training will concern the integration of the topics in the "Digital Preservation Landscape".

Concerning the communication of the event René will ask for assistance of DANS communication colleagues. In a section on the WIKI we will report on the communication actions taken (see: http://aparsen.digitalpreservation.eu/bin/view/Main/Communication. Sharon will coordinate / delegate communication activities.

The training event provides good opportunities te create "digital training objects". They should fit in the schedule of the VCoE, see: http://aparsen.digitalpreservation.eu/bin/view/Main/VcoeSoftLaunchPlans We will create video / audio / presentations etc. that can be used to create the "elevator pitches", CIO briefings, in-depth training, etc. This requires more preparation, help and discussion...

The training event must be described according to: http://www.alliancepermanentaccess.org/index.php/aparsen/aparsen-research/wp42-formal-qualifications/

The issue was raised whether we could define a common example that can be used for all training events (e.g. a use-case from the library community / earth observation).

Action points:

  • René: establish contact Ingrid - Panos (Due to a foreign conference Ingrid will not be able to discuss the training before November 12)
  • Panos: WP36 session description
  • Sharon: coordinate / delegate communication on the event.
  • René: inform Dutch contributors on event (Marcel, Heiko, Ingrid)
  • The Trainers should make more concrete descriptions on the content of the training topic.
  • Formulate "common example" to be used across all blocks.
