Meeting 17/04/14

Attendees: Maurizio Lunghi, Rene van Horik, Sharon McMeekin

Discussion: The potential programme and time restraints were the primary topic of conversation. It was agreed that this needed to move quickly and contingency plans needed to be in place in case relevant WPs were unable to attend. WP22, WP25, WP31 and WP35 were identified as the key targets for this training session but it was agreed that previous presenters could be contacted if there were spaces to be filled. Maurizio asked if space could be made in the programme for local, external speakers to present on related topics, it was agreed this possible (based on relevance) as this had also happened at the Dublin event. Rene suggested using the APARSEN Wiki to document as aspects of planning and organisation as he had for the Sustainability event and it was agreed this was a good idea, Sharon to initiate this and upload relevant content. Content of the sessions was discussed and Sharon noted that feedback from previous events indicated that participants were particularly positive about practical exercises. It was suggested that speakers be given the guidance that in a 2 hour session no more than 45 minutes should be formal presentation and the rest should involve a practical exercise. Presentations should also focus on practical application of APARSEN work rather than the research process.

Next Meeting: TBC, week beginning 21 April

Actions:

  • Sharon to prepare notes from meeting and circulate to attendees, including 'to-do' list and adding relevant information to APARSEN Wiki
  • Rene and Maurizio to begin preparation of programme, including contacting relevant WP Leads
  • Sharon to investigate registration page on APARSEN website
  • Maurizio to gather local information required for registration (i.e. venue details, hotel recommendations)
