WP Effort

Project Plan

Cost model analysis

  • The best way to carry out an analysis is to set out a template so that there is consistency in the analysis across the cost models
  • The template may contain the following headings:
    • Scope
      • What sector does this cost model relate to?
      • Which type of organisation does this model relate to?
      • What is best practice in the use of this model?
    • Origin
      • Background information on model
    • Applicability
      • Which preservation activity does this model relate to? e.g. 3rd party providing diverse services to different customers, one off activity, cost recovery approach, long term preservation arrangement
    • Parameters
      • Which cost parametrs are used within the model? Provide a list with clear definitions.

VCoE

  • Offering a value added service in terms of an analysis of models and guidance on which model would be most suitable. Perhaps a decision tree to help users.
  • For example, a small company may need assistance from a larger organisation who may be able to offer a service.

AOB

  • Collaboration with others important e.g see what links can be forged at the KE workshop on 11th June 2012.
  • Neil Grindley (JISC) has put forward a request for funding to look at cost models from Feb 13 - aligns with deliverable in this project. To work closely with NG if funding approved.

Next meeting

  • Proposal to have weekly meetings to increase activity and momentum tbc
