Management update

The minutes of the General Assembly meeting on 17th September are now available on the wiki.

The additional requested information for the first year Form Cs has now been received and Simon will be submitting them revised forms and the periodic report later today. He thanked the partners for providing the requested information.

Simon reminded everyone to fill in their effort reports on the management website, as he will be taking this as a basis for producing quarterly effort reports that will be matched against costs claimed.

Stream 1 Integration

Ash Hunter is working on D14.1 "Report on testing environments", though it will not be ready for submission at the end of this month. His main focus is on meeting the reviewers' expectations, and he expects to have it ready for internal review in mid-October.

René van Horik urged everyone to record events at which APARSEN was presented or mentioned to the log on the management website. This will feed into the WP15 deliverable "Register of workshops and attendees".

Stream 2 Technical research

WP21 on preservation services held a meeting to resume work on 25th September, and is now pushing to fill in the list of services and then to obtain perspectives of other partners.

D22.1(i) "Set of added value services and evaluation of user satisfaction" has been internally reviewed and is almost ready for submission. Work in WP22 is continuing on the interoperability framework and implementation of a demonstrator is planned.

The WP25 kick-off meeting is postponed to a later date.

Maurizio Lunghi as Stream Leader is planning to organise a MegaMeeting of WP leaders in October. He emphasized the importance of common terminology.

Stream 3 Economic and legal research

Kirnn Kaur reported that WP32 (cost/benefit analysis) is now focussing on the deliverable. A call for cost data was circulated yesterday to all partners. It is important that this WP should have access to a good range of data to assess and validate the cost models.

ACTION: All partners to consider whether they can contribute cost data to WP32 .

Stream 4 Spreading Excellence

John Lindström sent a report by email that WP41 is awaiting feedback on the long-term planning of events, and within two weeks a meeting will be held with all WP41-partners to collect further ideas and find APARSEN champions for events lacking such. Further, he is initiating the detailed planning for the co-organized 2013 events with the DPC.

For WP42, Holger Brocks reported that analysis is under way of the material collected about formal qualifications, and this will lead to a "gap analysis". The aim is to set up an online registry. The deliverable might be slightly delayed.

For WP43, Sharon McMeekin reported that they are still a little short of the required 40 non-English language training initiatives. She would particularly like input from Spain, France, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia other than Sweden.

ACTION: All partners to prvide information on non-English language training courses.

René van Horik reported that the workshop for IDCC has been accepted, though the conference organisers make a charge for hosting a workshop. A fee can be charged of the participants. Discussions are continuing with the IDCC organisers. The workshop will be a good opportunity to finalise the sustainability WPs and to align the outcomes of the work; even a "white paper" on sustainability could be envisaged. René will be convenor of the workshop but needs the support of all involved WPs.
