Special topic: deliverable D25.2 "Interoperability strategies"

Yannis Tzitzikas gave a presentation (here) on the work of WP25 and its second deliverable, which is due for submission at the end of September. There is also a prototype system called Epimenides, which Yannis encouraged everyone to try and send feedback.

Some points from the discussion:

  • René was involved in this WP and provided use cases. He thinks that dependency management could have a broader interpretation, and needs more face-to-face meetings to discuss the approach. There is a good opportunity for outreach here.
  • René also asked who could be the target groups for outreach. Yannis replied that it depends on the purpose: to develop the semantic registry, or for an existing service provider, or for those who advance technical solutions.
  • Mariella asked about the connection with authenticity; Yannis stressed the importance of linked data in this respect.
  • Yannis believes that an important line of future work is to introduce qualitative reasoning about trade-offs.
  • Simon asked about maintenance of the knowledge base of emulators and converters. There needs to be a way of doing this operationally. A semantic regsitry with update mechanisms is proposed.

Report on activities within streams, any issues arising

Simon reminded everyone that contributions to the common vision are wanted by 24 September. An outline of D11.3 was circulated with a template for contributions from WPs and all partners.

Sabine also reminded about the surveys for WP31 and WP35. Responses have been slow so far. The surveys are at http://tiny.cc/aparsen-drm and http://tiny.cc/aparsen-data-policies

Any other issues

René wants to upload some material from the workshop at iPRES on the website and asked how he could do that. Kirnn explained that there is a website working group (David Giaretta, Ruben Riestra, Sharon McMeekin, Gerald Jaeschke, Kirnn). The working group is planning the future of the website and particularly for the launch of the VCoE. Kirnn encouraged everyone to make their wishes known. Maurizio urged wider access to the website—though there is a need to control and organise what is put there.

Any material to be uploaded should be sent to David and Kirnn.

Gerald proposed that the workshop material could be good content for the online training portal.
