Follow-up from previous meeting, review of actions and master schedule

SL reminded everyone to sign up on the wiki for the AHM/GA meetings in December and arrange travel and hotel accommodation - details on the wiki.

  • Tues 2 & Wed 3 December - All Hands Meeting
  • Thurs 4 - General Assembly Meeting

There is also a working group meeting on Fri 6 December about the website.

Deliverable D25.2 "Interoperability strategies" has been submitted to the EC.

Management update

SL advised that he has been collecing the Form Cs but is still waiting for a small number and will chase these individually. Any partners whose bank account has changed since the last payment should inform Simon immediately.

SL said that we should start looking at the next deliverables - 9 in total, of which four represent new work (rather than annual progress reports/updates). The deliverables will need both internal and external reviewing before submission.

Report on activities within streams, any issues arising

Stream 1 Integration

Progress with Common Vision

SL reported that we submitted to the Project Officer the initial full draft of the next deliverable D11.3 due at the end of the year. A good response was received from the WP's involved. The next step is that we need to produce a vision statement for external distribution.

Offerings for VCoE

Concerning the VCoE, a reminder to send your list of potential services/offerings to KG by the end of October. This is to build up a list of services: consultancy, software products, training that the VCoE could offer once it is formally established. At least there should be an indication of who will be available, hoping for a number of people from different organisations, without commitment.

Stream 2 Technical research

Regarding WP22, ML reported that they are following up the workshop at iPRES in Lisbon and need at least one more week to finalise the work and start implementation of the demonstrator. SL asked how this relates to the deliverable at the end of the year. ML said they have started the work related to the deliverable and selected the first three services and, by December, they should have the new implementation of the demonstrator and the three basic services implemented. This is the infrastructure to prepare the user satisfaction survey for next year.

Stream 3 Economic and legal research

Sabine Schrimpf reported on WP31 and 35. They are still conducting their surveys and have extended the deadline. They are confident they can make a sound analysis from the responses they received. WP35 received 20 and WP31 received 26 responses. Sabine said they need to go through the responses and check where the APARSEN partners have responded. Juha will do the same for WP35.

WP32 and WP36 are providing input to the Sustainability brochure.

KK advised the group of a sustainability training event scheduled in December. They have a couple of issues about this and need to set up some urgent talks to discuss this. Rene advised that the sustainability training event is scheduled for the 10 & 11 December and the programme will be created by the WP leaders. Rene asked for suggestions and possible invited experts outside the group and invited everybody who has any ideas and would like input into this event to contact him. He suggested the next meeting for this should be just before or after the regular website meeting - this will be early next week. SL asked how many people are expected to attend this training event. RvH advised that the room capacity is 40.

DG asked if an update of D36.2 is planned. Something more tangible concerning value would be good, and we need some material for the training portal.

Stream 4 Spreading excellence

SL advised the group that Eefke Smit has been organising webinars and one of them is confirmed for the 8 November, on interoperability and intelligibility.

Daria Plankina informed that there will be a WP41 planning meeting in a couple of weeks to plan for additional events.

Rene van Horik mentioned the UNESCO conference in Marseille in November, and wondered whether there is scope for a joint APARSEN + Europeana workshop.

KG reminded everyone about the APA/C-DAC conference in India 5-6 Feb 2014, an opportunity to present work from the APARSEN project.
