Discussion of review report

Simon summarised the reviewers' remarks on D21.1. The deliverable was rejected until further work is done. Essentially what is needed is:

  • Complete the information for services described
  • Add more services—with clearer approach/selection?
  • Add some other references, especially the one mentioned by the reviewers about charging models
  • Revision of executive summary, introduction, conclusions as needed

WP21 has underpent its effort so there should be person-months available for this work. Ongoing work to update the deliverable will fall under the integration of WP11.

What needs doing for resubmission of D21.1 by 30th June

Silvio offered a contribution to the deliverable on the authenticity service being developed in cooperation between APARSEN and SCIDIP-ES. This could appear in a separate section of the deliverable. Also worth reporting is the work on a scalability service for WARC files (Ash Hunter), a novel development.

The services in the list are described at high-level and connected to implementations; however the lists of implementations are very incomplete.

Preservation action services may be highly diverse. Here we could just give an overview and some links, not attempting to be comprehensive.

It would also be desirable to stress workflows and combining services. SCAPE has done work in this area. We should take advantage of all projects that we know about to gather information.

Specific plan and timetable for resubmission

ACTION: Simon to review overall structure of deliverable and see if extra sections are needed.

ACTION: All to check current high-level list of services for completeness and appropriateness.

ACTION: Simon to set up wiki page with list of services in deliverable; then all to volunteer to complete the service descriptions (including links to implementations).

ACTION: Silvio to write contribution on authenticity service, though this should not be on the critical path.

ACTION: Ash to write contribution on the WARC scalability service.

ACTION: All to gather relevant input from other projects such as SCAPE.

ACTION: René to read and summarise presentation by Bill Cliveness mentioned in review report.

ACTION: Barbara to propose graphical representation to help with navigation of the deliverable.

By the All Hands Meeting in London on 15th May, we should have a first draft of the general service descriptions and list of implementations. At the AHM we will have a quick check on progress, then another MegaMeeting a week later.
