  • How Interoperability is related with Digital Preservation?
  • Which approaches for interoperability currently exist?
  • Do we necessarily need standards to achieve interoperability ?
  • How I can use this digital object? How can I perform this task?

  • How can I plan to allow the preservation system to scale with the rapidly growing amount of data, its complexity, and the requirements for availability, sharing, and distribution

Questions to be dealt with:

  • How can I refer to a digital resource in a sure, unique, stable and global way?
  • Are identification and citability of resources related each other?
  • Why do we need Persistent Identifiers for digital resources?
  • Which technology is the best or the winner? No one single winner .... so interoperability solutions are needed!
  • PI are simple numbers? No they can be services!
  • Pi managers must evolve towards trusted service providers ... how can they do that?


  • What are Digital Rights and what is the digital management of digital rights?
  • What is the challenge related to the preservation of digital rights information?
  • What are best-practices in dealing with digital rights and their safeguarding over the long-term?
  • Why do DRM-protected objects carry a risks for their long-term preservation.
  • Which DRM techniques/variants/tools there are? Which are risky, which are not?
  • What are recommendations in dealing with DRM-protected material?


  • What is "data policy" and why do we need those?
  • What kind of issues should be covered in data policies?
  • What is the institutions' level of preparedness for interoperable governance and data policies?
  • What recommendations do we give for governance structures and data policies?
