reminder version for the APARSEN list

Dear APARSENERS,

for several weeks now, the two APARSEN surveys about

  • Digital Rights and Access Management and
  • Data Policies and Governance Structures

are open. Because the response rate to both questionnaires is very low, we need to remind you to take part in these surveys. We are convinced that you input is strongly importent and valueable for both WPs (31, 35), for APARSEN and of course the long term preservation community. It would be be sad if not even within APARSEN the particpation can be increased.

In order for you to take part, we have extend the survey duration: Your input is now appreciated before October 14th 2013.

Here you find the information to participate:

Digital Rights and Access Management The goal of this activity is to find out how you deal with DRM protected digital objects and their associated digital rights. We are strongly interested in what you as a memory institution, a research institution, a data center or any other kind of organization do to preserve these kind of objects and what you undertake to guarantee digital rights now and, of course, in the future.

You will find the survey here: http://tiny.cc/aparsen-drm

All data submitted are treated as strictly confidential per default. At the end of the questionnaire you find additional the possibility to declare under what conditions you be willing to share the information with a wider community.

If you interested in taking a first look at the complete questionnaire you find a word version here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o5pov8b82c8jg1x/APARSEN_WP31_DRM_survey.docx. But in order to answer the questions we would like recommend to use the online based version that you find above.

Data Policies and Governance Structures The goal of this activity is devising a methodology for implementing governance structures and data policies based on current best practice regarding digital preservation. We are strongly interested in your opinion, in your data repository, on data policies and governance structures.

You will find the survey here: http://tiny.cc/aparsen-data-policies

If you interested in taking a first look at the complete questionnaire you find a pdf version here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/779cnkagu88p61d/APARSEN_DataPolicy_Survey.pdf. But in order to answer the questions we would like recommend to use the online based version that you find above.

Please take some time to help us taking a good snapshot of the common approach of dealing with digital rights and data policies.

Many thanks the WP 35 and WP 31 team
